Immo V: adapting the electronic steering lock (ELV) to the BCM2

Adapts the electronic steering lock (ELV) to the immobiliser (BCM2) on A4/A5/Q5 from 2008 and A6/A7/A8 from 2010. Needed when fitting an ELV that has come off another vehicle.

⚠ WarningTransferring an ELV from one car to another is only possible within limits: for A4/A5/Q5 you need the BCM2 (flash or dump of the immo data) of the car the ELV came from; for A6/A7/A8/Touareg you need that car's BCM2 AND a working key from the same vehicle.

Procedure

  1. Check that you have what is required: for A4/A5/Q5 the BCM2 dump from the donor car; for A6/A7/A8/Touareg the BCM2 dump plus a working key from the donor car.
  2. Stage 1: select the model of the car the ELV came from. If it is an A4/A5/Q5 the BCM2 dump is enough; if it is an A6/A7/A8/Touareg you will also have to read the donor car's working key in the programmer.
  3. Stage 2: the software reads the BCM2 you want to adapt the ELV to. This normally happens over OBDII with no user input.
  4. Stage 3: the software synchronises the BCM2 and the ELV. This stage needs no user input either.
  5. With all three stages completed, check that the ELV works.
