Immo parts adaptation: adapting an engine ECU

The "Immo parts adaptation" function is used to adapt a virgin or second-hand engine ECU to another vehicle. It covers the parts that do not support channel 50 adaptation: VW/Seat/Skoda from 2007 and Audi from 2003/2004, that is not only Bosch EDC16/MED9 but also EDC17/MED17 and the Siemens VDO units (Simos PPD and Simos 9.x/6.x/7.x).

Procedure

1. Start the "Immo parts adaptation" special function and choose the part to adapt: "Engine control unit".
2. Check you have the data you need: if the ECU is virgin, the new CS (6 or 7 bytes) and the new PIN are enough, and you can read them from the immobiliser or from the old ECU if it is available; if the ECU is used, you also need the existing CS and PIN of that second-hand unit.
3. For EDC16/MED9/ME7/EDC17/MED17 and Simos PPD ECUs press "Read" directly: the power class, existing PIN/CS, VIN and immobiliser number are read and displayed. Virgin ECU status is detected automatically.
4. After the read, the existing data is filled into the fields below automatically; note that the 7th CS byte is not required here.
5. The CS/PIN, VIN and immobiliser number fields become active: enter the values you want to write.
6. Check the power class displayed: it must match the immobiliser's, otherwise the car will not start.
7. Confirm to run the adaptation of the ECU to the vehicle.
