Forcing the ignition ON (IGN ON) on MQB vehicles

On some MQB platform vehicles you can force the ignition (IGN) into the ON position by bridging 3 pins on the Keyless Entry module connector, so that you can communicate with the car.

Procedure

  1. Remove the plastic trim under the steering wheel to get at the Keyless Entry module.
  2. Locate the Keyless Entry module connector.
  3. Bridge the 3 pins highlighted in yellow in the manual's diagrams: this forces IGN ON on the vehicle.
  4. Check that you have communication with the vehicle and carry on with the diagnostic job.
