Toyota/Lexus odometer calibration: instrument clusters with S6J3 and RH850 MCU (Read / Write / Restore)

Toyota/Lexus Interface New Odometer Advanced ⏱ 30-60 min 9 steps

Allows odometer calibration on Toyota/Lexus instrument clusters with unlocked S6J3 MCU or RH850 MCU. The "Dash Calibration" menu offers reading the current value, writing the new value and restoring the original file.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • CB106
  • CB012
  • CB031
⚠ WarningEvery read and write operation automatically creates a backup file: choosing the correct backup file at "Restore" time is critical. The backup name normally contains the processor type plus the creation date and time.

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket with the CB106 cable. The procedures are done over OBDII, but in some cases the internal CAN connection via CB012 or CB031 is also required.
  2. Clusters with S6J3 processor: on cars with the old type of gateway the procedure is done over OBDII only; on cars with the new type of gateway the internal CAN connection with CB012 or CB031 is required. A message in the software tells you if the connection is needed.
  3. Clusters with RH850 processor: you always have to connect both to the OBDII socket and to the vehicle's internal CAN with CB012 or CB031.
  4. With the connection established, start the Toyota Online software and open the "Dash Calibration" menu.
  5. Press "Read" to read the cluster and display the current odometer value. A backup file is created automatically during this procedure.
  6. Press "Write" to write the new value: the software re-reads the cluster and warns you that a backup file will be created. Once the backup is done, set the new odometer value and write it into the instrument cluster.
  7. If you need to go back, press "Restore" and select the backup file already read/saved from the drop-down menu: the software shows all the backups created. Pick the right one by checking processor type, date and time in the file name.
  8. The procedure for clusters with RH850 processor is identical to the one for S6J3 clusters: the same "Read", "Write" and "Restore" commands apply.
  9. At the end, with the ignition on, check that the displayed value is the expected one and that no faults show up on the dash.
