Immobiliser systems using the Texas 4C transponder, fitted to cars up to 2003/2004: immobiliser integrated in the engine ECU or separate immobox synchronised with the engine ECU. Two routes are possible: via OBDII or by dump.

⚠ WarningThe 4C transponder does not need to be prepared before programming: it has an ID that is written into the immobiliser during the key learning procedure.
Procedure
Identify the system: open "Special Functions" > "Key learning" and let the software work out whether the immobiliser is integrated in the engine ECU or is a separate immobox synchronised with the engine ECU.
VIA OBDII - Follow the software's on-screen messages through to the end of key learning. If all keys are lost you can use a TPX1 transponder and place it in the PROTAG programmer when the software asks for it.
BY DUMP, immobiliser integrated in the engine ECU - Read the ECU memory with the "ECU memory" special function.
Program the transponder with the "Transponder Tool" > "Transponder by dump" special function, loading the dump you have just read.
Write the new dump (modified by the software) back into the engine ECU using the same "ECU memory" special function.
BY DUMP, separate immobox synchronised with the engine ECU - Read the immobox EEPROM memory with the ABPROG software.
Program the transponder from "Transponder Tool" > "Transponder by dump", loading the immobox EEPROM dump.
Write the new dump back into the immobox EEPROM memory with ABPROG, then refit the module and test starting.
If you use a TPX1, prepare it first as a Tiris 4C universal key from "Transponder Tool" > "Production" > "Tiris 4C/4D" > "Tiris 4C universal key (TPX1)": the TPX1 is the 4C transponder emulator and is used for cloning. On these older vehicles Abrites recommends always keeping a universal key generated from the "Production" menu to hand, because it lets you add a new key without removing the immobox.
