Key learning on Toyota smart keys with the ZN039-2 master emulator

Toyota/Lexus Interface Classic Keys / Immo Medium ⏱ 20-40 min 7 steps

The ZN039-2 adapter emulates a master key on Toyota vehicles with smart key when no master is available, allowing a new slave key to be programmed without stripping the car, removing the smart system or reading its EEPROM.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • cavo OBDII
  • ZN039-2
⚠ WarningThe general key learning rule applies: once the procedure has started, do not close the driver's door and do not switch the ignition off until a master key has been learned.

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the vehicle's OBDII socket and the ZN039-2 as instructed by the software.
  2. From the main screen press "Special Functions" and select "Key learning", then follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. When prompted by the software, turn the ignition ON and carry on.
  4. When the software asks which role to give the adapter, choose to use the ZN039 as MASTER KEY EMULATOR.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions until the ZN039-2 is accepted as a master key by the vehicle.
  6. With the emulated master active, carry on in the same procedure to program the new slave key.
  7. When the job is done, disconnect the ZN039-2: it is reusable on other vehicles.
