Replacing the INV20EM01 hybrid inverter (48V starter-generator) with FBS4 data saved from the original

The "Hybrid/Inverter" function in FBS4 Manager is used to replace an inverter module from the INV20EM01 family (the 48V starter-generator on Mercedes hybrids): it reads and clears DTC, shows the module status and personalises it. Scenario 1: the original unit is still in the car and can be read.

⚠ WarningRead and save the FBS4 data from the original BEFORE removing it. After personalisation, if the software versions do not match, use "Program" to align them. The unit activates by itself after 100 ignition cycles.

Procedure

  1. READING - With the original unit in the car, connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket and open Mercedes FBS4 Manager.
  2. Select the "Hybrid/Inverter" option and press "Info" to establish the connection.
  3. Press "Save" to read the FBS4 data from the original unit and save it to file.
  4. PERSONALISATION - Fit the donor unit in the car.
  5. Open Mercedes FBS4 Manager, select "Hybrid/Inverter" and press "Info".
  6. Take the unit to "Virgin" state with the dedicated button.
  7. Press "Personalize" and select the file with the FBS4 data saved from the original.
  8. When prompted, switch the ignition OFF and then ON to finalise.
  9. If the software versions need aligning, use the "Program" button. Bear in mind that activation happens after 100 ignition cycles.
