Mercedes AdBlue Reset: resetting the AdBlue system after component replacement or the remaining mileage warning

Mercedes Interface New Service Basic ⏱ 5-10 min 5 steps

The "AdBlue Reset" special function resets the AdBlue system after a component has been replaced (tank, pump, sensor, injector) or when the instrument cluster shows the remaining mileage warning before the engine start is blocked. From the same function you read and clear the DTC in the modules involved.

Required licences

  • Licenza Mercedes Online

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • Cavo OBDII
⚠ WarningFix the cause first (AdBlue level, fluid quality, faulty component): the reset clears the countdown, not the fault. Stable power supply and ignition ON throughout the procedure.

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket, start Abrites Diagnostics for Mercedes Online and select the vehicle (preferably by VIN).
  2. Open "Special Functions" and select "AdBlue Reset".
  3. The screen summarises the two steps: "AdBlue Reset" (after component replacement or with the remaining mileage warning on the cluster) and "After execution".
  4. Press "Execute" and wait for the procedure to complete.
  5. As recommended in the "After execution" step, clear all DTC from the modules involved, switch the ignition off and on again and check the warning has gone.
