Tyre pressure sensor fault on Ford Focus and C-Max: fixing it through Central Car Configuration

Ford/Mazda Interface Classic Coding / Adaptations Medium ⏱ 15-30 min 6 steps

On Ford Focus and C-Max the tyre pressure sensors fail frequently and throw a dash warning, particularly when the customer fits a second set of wheels without sensors. Central Car Configuration lets you change the TPMS parameter.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
⚠ WarningThe problem does not affect the driveability of the car, but under European legislation all cars must be fitted with these sensors: it is up to the vehicle owner to decide whether to fix the fault by replacing the sensors or to run tyres without sensors and switch the warning off.

Procedure

  1. Confirm the fault: on the instrument cluster (Focus 2016 in this example) the tyre pressure monitoring system warning appears.
  2. Connect the AVDI and open the Ford/Mazda diagnostics.
  3. Enter the "Central Car Configuration" (CCC) menu.
  4. Find the module called "Tyre pressure mode system" in the list.
  5. Set the parameter value to 100 and write the configuration.
  6. Cycle the ignition off and on and confirm the dash warning is gone.
