Keys ordered from Toyota/Lexus/Scion dealers are in most cases SLAVE keys and are unusable after an immobiliser reset. The "Production" utility lets you program a virgin transponder as a MASTER key, ready to be accepted by the immobiliser.

⚠ WarningOnce programmed as ID67, ID68 or ID70 the transponder cannot be reprogrammed: after preparation the data fields stay locked and the type can no longer be changed.
Procedure
Connect the PROTAG to the PC, open the "Transponder Tool" special function and select "Production".
Use a virgin (new) Texas 4D transponder or a TPX2. A TPX1 is only needed for preparing the "Emergency 4C" key.
During preparation choose what kind of key you need - master key or sub key - and which vehicle model it is for.
Choose the correct type according to the market: ID67 for Toyota/Scion, ID68 for Lexus, ID70 for Toyota Europe. For G-type keys use the "DST80/DST+" menu, for 4C keys the "Tiris 4C/4D" menu.
Program the transponder and check it with "Read/Identify" before taking it to the car.
Apply the rules that hold for all Toyota/Lexus/Scion: at least one MASTER key must be registered in the immobiliser; after a system reset the first key programmed must be a MASTER; in many cases at least two registered keys are needed to close the learning.
On older vehicles with an external immobiliser and 4C key, Abrites recommends always keeping a universal key generated from the "Production" menu to hand: with it you can add a new key without removing the immobox.
