Replacing the VGS3-FDCT (TCM9 FDCT) transmission control unit when the original TCU is missing or so badly damaged it cannot be read: you save the EIS4 personalisation data file from the EIS via OBDII and use it to personalise the virgin donor on the bench.

AVDI
Cavo custom DB25 maschio
Alimentatore esterno 12 V
⚠ WarningIMPORTANT: on this TCU the vehicle VIN must be set on the donor BEFORE pressing "Personalize". Custom cable: CAN L to PIN 15 of the DB25, CAN H to PIN 7, B+ 12 V to PIN 17, GND to PIN 5 and 6; external supply soldered onto the DB25 with +12 V to Pin 17 and ground to Pin 4 and 5. 12 V power supply rated at least 1 A on the conductor plate alone, at least 4 A if the plate is still in the gearbox and connected through the socket. The unit activates on its own after 100 ignition cycles.
Procedure
Connect the AVDI to the vehicle OBDII socket.
Open Mercedes FBS4 Manager, select "Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS)" and press "Info".
Press "Save" and save the personalisation data file (EIS4 file) to the PC.
Set the donor TCU up on the bench with the custom DB25 cable (pinout in the warning) and a suitable external power supply.
In FBS4 Manager select the "TCU" option and press "Info" to establish the connection.
Take the unit to "Virgin" state with the dedicated button.
Set the vehicle VIN on the donor TCU: without this step the personalisation will not succeed.
Press "Personalize" and select the EIS4 file saved from the EIS.
When the software prompts, switch the ignition OFF and then ON to finalise the procedure.
Fit the TCU to the vehicle, check starting and gear engagement, and bear in mind that automatic activation happens after 100 ignition cycles.
