VGS2-FDCT: personalising the donor with no saved data, using the EIS4 file

Mercedes Interface New Keys / Immo Advanced ⏱ 1-2 hours 11 steps

Procedure for when the original VGS2-FDCT is gone or beyond recovery: the personalisation data is read from the car's EIS and written into the donor TCU set up on the bench.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • CB100/CB106 OBDII
  • ZN151 DS Box
  • CB403 DS-BOX Extended Cable Set
⚠ WarningThe car's VIN must be written into the donor TCU BEFORE running "Personalize" with the EIS4 file. The unit activates automatically after 100 ignition cycles.

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the car over OBDII.
  2. Open the Mercedes FBS4 Manager software, select "Electronic Ignition Switch" (EIS) and press "Info".
  3. Press "Save" to save the personalisation data file (EIS4 file) to the PC.
  4. Set the donor unit up on the bench with the CB403 cable and the ZN151 DS Box, following the wiring diagram in chapter 5.3 (ground on the TCU's metal case).
  5. Open the Mercedes FBS4 Manager software and select the "TCU" option.
  6. Press "Info" to establish the connection.
  7. Take the unit to "Virgin" state with the dedicated button.
  8. IMPORTANT: now write the car's VIN into the donor TCU module.
  9. Only after the VIN has been set, press "Personalize" and select the file with the EIS4 data saved from the EIS.
  10. When the job is done the software will ask you to cycle the key IGN OFF and then ON to finalise.
  11. Refit the unit: automatic activation happens after 100 ignition cycles.
