When the original MRD1 or MRG1 ECU is gone or unrecoverable, the personalization data is taken from the vehicle's EIS/EZS (.eis4 file) and written into the donor ECU prepared on the bench. This is the procedure specific to MRD1/MRG1, different from the generic one used for other ECUs.

⚠ WarningIMPORTANT: the vehicle's VIN must be written to the donor ECU BEFORE you start the personalization, otherwise the procedure will not complete. MD1/MG1 units produced after 2021 are locked: only new units not ordered for that vehicle from the dealer can be personalized.
Procedure
Connect the AVDI to the vehicle over OBDII (CB106 cable).
Open the Mercedes FBS4 software and select Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS), then press "Info".
Press "Save" and save the EIS personalization data file (EIS4 file) to the PC.
Prepare the donor ECU on the bench using the DS Box (ZN151 as stated in the manual) and the CB030 cable, making sure you use the correct MD1 or MG1 connector on the CB030.
Open the Mercedes FBS4 software and select ECU, then press "Info" to establish the connection with the unit on the bench.
Press the "Virgin" button to bring the unit to virgin state.
IMPORTANT: at this point write the vehicle's VIN to the donor ECU with the "VIN" button.
Only once the VIN is set, press "Personalize" and select the file with the EIS4 data saved at step 3.
At the end the software asks you to cycle the ignition off and on (IGN OFF/ON) to finalize the procedure. The unit then activates automatically after 100 ignition cycles.
