Delphi CRD3xxNFZ ECU replacement over OBDII with personalization data saved from the original

Mercedes Interface New Keys / Immo Medium ⏱ 45-90 min 10 steps

Delphi CRD3xxNFZ ECUs are identified, virginized and personalized directly over OBDII with the FBS4 Manager. This is the procedure to use when the original ECU can still be read.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • CB106
⚠ WarningIMPORTANT: on these units the vehicle VIN has to be written to the donor ECU after virginizing and BEFORE starting the personalization; only once the VIN is set do you go ahead with "Personalize".

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the vehicle over OBDII (CB106 cable), with the original ECU still fitted.
  2. Open the Mercedes FBS4 software and press "Info" to establish the connection.
  3. Press "Save" to save the original ECU's personalization data file to the PC.
  4. Only once the original's data has been saved correctly, fit the donor ECU to the vehicle.
  5. Open the Mercedes FBS4 software and select "ECU".
  6. Press "Info" to establish the connection with the new unit.
  7. Bring the unit to "Virgin" state using the dedicated button.
  8. IMPORTANT: at this point write the vehicle's VIN to the donor ECU.
  9. With the VIN set, press "Personalize" and select the file with the personalization data saved from the original ECU.
  10. At the end the software asks you to cycle the ignition off and on (IGN OFF/ON) to finalize the procedure. The unit activates automatically after 100 ignition cycles.
