Transponder generation and programming (PCF7935 / PCF7936 for SMART)

Mercedes Interface Classic Keys / Immo Advanced ⏱ 30-60 min 8 steps

This function programs immobilizers using the transponder programmer, ready for use directly on the vehicle. On C, E and G Class the transponders are self-learning and work straight after programming.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • TANGO programmer
  • dispositivo di programmazione transponder Abrites
⚠ WarningFor all models except SMART the transponder must be a PCF 7935. For SMART vehicles the transponder must be a PCF7936 and must be set to Cipher mode: this is done by changing the first byte of the Hitag transponder Config page to 0E (in Password mode this byte is 06). On Mercedes ML (W163) the transponder MUST be learned after programming using the "Immobilizer" special function, otherwise it will not work.

Procedure

  1. Connect the interface and the transponder programmer (TANGO programmer / Abrites transponder programming device).
  2. Open the "Special Functions" tab and select "Transponder Generation and Programming".
  3. Prepare the correct transponder: PCF 7935 for all models except SMART.
  4. For SMART vehicles use a PCF7936 and set it to Cipher mode by writing 0E to the first byte of the Hitag transponder Config page (in Password mode the value is 06).
  5. Program the transponder with the function and check the result.
  6. On C, E and G Class the transponder is self-learning: it can be used in the car straight after programming.
  7. On Mercedes ML (W163) learn the freshly programmed transponder using the "Immobilizer" special function ("Learn ML Transponder" button, key number 1 to 8).
  8. On SMART vehicles learn the key using the "SMART Key Teach-In" special function.
