Adapting a used transmission control unit (TCU) with the "DAS Manager"

Mercedes Interface Classic Coding / Adaptations Advanced ⏱ varies 7 steps

Transmission control units can be adapted to the vehicle with the "DAS Manager" special function. The procedure means taking the TCU to virgin state and then personalizing, re-coding and activating it.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
⚠ WarningMake sure you read and save the coding BEFORE virginizing the TCU: you will need it to write back after personalization. Virginizing requires an internet connection.

Procedure

  1. In the "DAS Manager" select the TCU and read it. In some cases the TCU cannot be read over OBD and needs a connection to the internal CAN.
  2. Read and save the TCU coding before going any further.
  3. Virginize the TCU: this step requires an internet connection.
  4. Carry on with personalizing the unit.
  5. Write back the coding you saved in the earlier step.
  6. Enter the VIN when the software asks for it.
  7. Run the last step, activation ("Activate"): at this point the TCU is ready to work in the car.
