Cloning a Daihatsu key: Texas 4C onto TPX1 and Texas 4D onto TPX2

This makes a fully working copy of a key the vehicle already recognises, without touching the immobiliser. It is the quickest route when the customer still has at least one key that starts the car and wants a spare.

⚠ WarningFor Texas 4D you must use a virgin (factory-new) TPX2 transponder, JMA or compatible: a transponder that has already been written cannot be cloned onto.

Procedure

  1. Connect the transponder programmer to the AVDI, open "Special Functions" and launch "Transponder Tool".
  2. Place the customer's original key about 1 cm from the programmer's antenna, away from metal surfaces.
  3. Press "Read/Identify" to identify the original transponder and note the type detected.
  4. Choose the target transponder according to the type read: for a fixed Texas 4C use a TPX1 transponder made by JMA or compatible; for a Texas 4D use a virgin (new) TPX2 transponder, JMA or compatible.
  5. In the "Transponder Tool" select the key/transponder cloning sub-function.
  6. Read the data from the original key following the software prompts, holding it still on the antenna for the whole operation.
  7. When the software asks for it, swap the original key for the new key containing the virgin TPX1 or TPX2, again at 1 cm from the antenna, and start the write.
  8. Once writing is complete, test the cloned key on the vehicle: it must start the engine exactly like the original. If it does not start, re-check the target transponder type and read the original again.
