"Simplified Key Registration" is for when you have no working key and the vehicle PIN cannot be read; it also works simply to add a spare key. It makes Mitsubishi key programming far simpler, but it needs a TagProg or ProTag programmer.

⚠ WarningThe Mitsubishi Colt (2004-2007) is the only model NOT covered by this function: on that model you have to enter the PIN code and use the normal key programming route. Without a TagProg or ProTag programmer connected the function will not run.
Procedure
Connect the AVDI to the vehicle OBDII socket and turn the ignition ON; connect the PROTAG (or TagProg) programmer to the PC, as the function requires it.
Start "ABRITES diagnostics for MITSUBISHI", open the "Special Functions" tab and select the "Key Learning" menu.
Press "Next": the software automatically identifies the vehicle model, so you do not have to enter the PIN (the vehicle PIN is generated automatically when the procedure starts).
Press "Next" again to start the procedure itself and wait: the progress bar shows the stage in progress.
When prompted, enter the number of keys you want to register. Bear in mind that every key that has to stay working must be registered in this same session.
Insert the first key into the PROTAG/TagProg programmer when the software asks and wait for the transponder to be read/prepared.
When prompted, hold the key up to the ignition coil (IGN coil) around the ignition lock and keep it there: the software also shows a help screen for positioning the keys correctly.
Let the key registration complete; repeat the insertion into the programmer and the hold against the coil for every key declared at step 5.
Wait for the procedure completed successfully message, then try starting the engine with each programmed key to confirm the result.
If the vehicle has a smart key with remote, carry on with remote synchronization as per the Smart Key (Fast System) procedure.
