McLaren: Stored Data Write (coding) and vehicle/gateway configuration alignment

McLaren Interface Classic Coding / Adaptations Advanced ⏱ 30-60 min 8 steps

The two main configuration functions of the ML001 licence: stored data write (coding) to change and adapt an ECU's parameters, and automatic alignment between the vehicle configuration and the gateway configuration. They are typically used after a module has been replaced or updated, to clear configuration mismatches.

Required licences

  • ML001

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
⚠ WarningThis is parameter writing into the ECUs: guarantee a stable power supply on the vehicle and do not interrupt communication (AVDI unplugged, ignition off, internet connection dropped) during the write. The software is online and works through the Abrites servers.

Procedure

  1. Plug the AVDI into the OBDII socket, switch the ignition on and open "Abrites Diagnostics for McLaren Online", selecting the correct model.
  2. Run a "Full Vehicle Scan" first and read the DTCs: you need to know which ECUs respond and which are in fault before changing the configuration.
  3. Enter "Special Functions" (requires the ML001 licence).
  4. To work on an ECU's parameters select "Stored Data Write (Coding)": the function lets you change and adapt the ECU parameters by writing the stored data and aligning the system configuration after a module replacement or update.
  5. Select the target ECU and the parameters to write, then confirm the write and wait for it to complete without touching the ignition or the connections.
  6. To bring the vehicle and gateway back into line use "Vehicle Configuration Alignment": the function automatically synchronises the vehicle configuration with the gateway configuration, clearing configuration mismatches after component replacements or updates.
  7. When the alignment is done, cycle the ignition off and on so all the ECUs re-read the new configuration.
  8. Repeat "Full Vehicle Scan" and "Read/Clear DTCs": clear the faults generated during the operation and confirm that communication between the ECUs is consistent.
