Suzuki key programming: "Key learning" special function with AVDI

Suzuki Interface Classic Keys / Immo Medium ⏱ 20-40 min 10 steps

The "Key learning" special function in Abrites Diagnostics for Suzuki teaches a new key to the vehicle over OBDII. Use it when you need to add a key or replace a lost one on a supported Suzuki model.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
⚠ WarningThe correct vehicle model must be selected from the drop-down menu: the wrong choice will wreck the procedure. During learning, follow the on-screen instructions to the letter. Before you start, check the full list of vehicles supported for key learning on abrites.com.

Procedure

  1. Plug the AVDI into the vehicle's OBDII socket and into the PC, then turn the ignition ON.
  2. Start "Abrites Diagnostics for Suzuki" from the "Quick start" menu of the Abrites suite.
  3. Before going any further, check on abrites.com that the model and year of the vehicle are on the list of vehicles supported for key learning.
  4. From the main screen open the special functions menu ("Special Functions").
  5. Select the key learning icon: the "Key learning" window opens.
  6. From the drop-down menu pick the correct vehicle model from those offered.
  7. Press "Connect": the software establishes the connection with the vehicle.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions step by step (inserting and turning the keys, waiting times, confirmations) until the new key has been learned.
  9. When the procedure is done, test every key that has to stay operational: engine start and, where fitted, the remote control functions.
  10. Run a final diagnostic scan and clear any DTCs generated during the procedure in the immobiliser and cluster modules.
