Pressure Control Solenoid C Performance
Meaning
The transmission control module has detected that pressure control solenoid C (PCS C) is not delivering the expected hydraulic pressure, or the control signal is outside specification. Hydraulic pressure regulation in circuit C is compromised.
Common causes
- PCS C solenoid mechanically stuck or delivering insufficient performance
- Valve body with PCS C channel obstructed by deposits
- Degraded or contaminated ATF impairing solenoid response
- Clogged ATF filter reducing available pressure
- Electrical fault in the PCS C control circuit
- Internal TCM fault
Symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or abnormal gear shifts in PCS C-controlled gears
- Transmission slipping
- Transmission in limp mode
- Transmission overheating
Severity
High: loss of pressure regulation in circuit C causes accelerated clutch wear and risk of severe transmission damage.
What to do
- Check ATF level and condition; replace if degraded
- Measure PCS C solenoid resistance and voltage with a multimeter
- Check hydraulic pressure in the PCS C circuit with a gauge
- Inspect the valve body for obstructions in the PCS C channel
- Replace PCS C solenoid or overhaul the valve body if necessary
