MAP Signal High

Meaning

MAP sensor voltage exceeds the maximum threshold (typically above 4.5 V). The ECU interprets abnormally high manifold pressure, causing errors in engine load calculation.

Common causes

  • Open ground circuit at the MAP sensor
  • Short to Vref (5 V) in the signal wire
  • Sensor failure with output stuck high
  • Disconnected vacuum hose causing open-air reading on some sensor designs

Symptoms

  • MIL illuminated
  • ECU interprets low vacuum/high load condition
  • Lean correction or over-fuelling
  • Hesitation

Severity

Moderate severity: same consequence as P0107 but in the opposite direction — incorrect fuelling increases emissions and reduces driveability.

What to do

  1. Check ground continuity at the MAP sensor
  2. Look for short to Vref in the signal wire
  3. Verify vacuum hose is not disconnected
  4. Replace sensor if wiring is intact
