DPF Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
Meaning
The DPF differential-pressure sensor reports an implausible value. The ECU cannot correctly assess how blocked the filter is.
Common causes
- Faulty differential-pressure sensor
- Blocked, split or swapped pressure hoses
- Disconnected hoses or hoses filled with condensate/soot
- Open, shorted or corroded wiring/connector
- Faulty reference ground or supply
- Rarely, a faulty input inside the ECU
Symptoms
- Check-engine light on
- Incorrect or absent regeneration behaviour
- Possible limp mode
- Implausible DPF back-pressure reading in live data
- Regenerations that are too frequent or never started
Severity
Moderate: a wrong reading can disrupt regenerations and clog the DPF over time.
What to do
- Read live differential-pressure data and compare with plausible values with the engine off and running
- Inspect the pressure hoses for cleanliness, splits, correct connection and orientation
- Check the sensor wiring, connector, supply and ground
- Replace the sensor if hoses and wiring are sound but the value stays implausible
