Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit Range/Performance

Meaning

The FCV command signal is present but the rail pressure response falls outside the expected range. The ECM detects a functional error, not a wiring fault.

Common causes

  • Partially stuck or worn FCV valve
  • Rail pressure out of range due to internal pump leakage
  • Clogged fuel filter restricting flow
  • Fuel leak in the high-pressure circuit
  • Abnormal wiring resistance (not enough to open the circuit)

Symptoms

  • Check-engine light on
  • Erratic or insufficient rail pressure
  • Power loss and sluggish acceleration
  • Increased smoke or emissions
  • Possible limp-home mode

Severity

High: compromised fuel regulation affects performance and emissions; diagnose without delay.

What to do

  1. Read live rail pressure data and compare against target values
  2. Check fuel filter condition and replace if clogged
  3. Inspect FCV for mechanical wear or sticking
  4. Check the high-pressure circuit for fuel leaks
  5. Consider pump replacement if internal leakage is confirmed
