Pressure Control Solenoid A Control Circuit Low
Meaning
The transmission control module has detected that the electrical signal in the pressure control solenoid A (PCS A) control circuit is below the expected minimum threshold: short to ground or excessively low command current.
Common causes
- Short to ground in the PCS A solenoid control wire
- PCS A solenoid with too-low resistance (internally shorted coil)
- Damaged insulation in the PCS A control wiring creating a short circuit
- Oxidised PCS A connectors creating a low-resistance path to ground
- Internal TCM fault on the PCS A driver producing a low signal
Symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh or abnormal gear shifts
- Transmission in limp mode
- Hydraulic pressure not regulated correctly
Severity
High: the short circuit in the PCS A circuit impairs hydraulic pressure regulation, risking clutch damage in the transmission.
What to do
- Measure PCS A solenoid resistance with a multimeter (check for internal short)
- Check for short to ground in the PCS A control wire with a multimeter
- Inspect wiring and connectors for damaged insulation
- Measure command current to the solenoid with a clamp ammeter
- Replace PCS A solenoid or TCM depending on diagnosis
