EVAP Pressure Sensor Range/Performance
Meaning
The ECU monitors the fuel tank pressure sensor during the EVAP system leak test. A range/performance fault means the sensor output does not follow the expected pressure curve during purge and seal cycles.
Common causes
- Sensor drift or contamination
- Blocked EVAP vent valve
- Intermittent wiring fault
- Faulty fuel cap allowing uncontrolled pressure loss
- ECU reference voltage out of specification
Symptoms
- MIL illuminated
- EVAP monitor incomplete
- Possible fuel odor
- No driveability impact
Severity
Moderate — the fault primarily affects emissions monitoring without impacting driveability.
What to do
- Check EVAP pressure sensor signal with scan tool during the EVAP test
- Inspect vent valve operation
- Check wiring and connectors
- Inspect fuel cap seal for damage
