EVAP Pressure Sensor Range/Performance

Meaning

The ECU monitors the fuel tank pressure sensor during the EVAP system leak test. A range/performance fault means the sensor output does not follow the expected pressure curve during purge and seal cycles.

Common causes

  • Sensor drift or contamination
  • Blocked EVAP vent valve
  • Intermittent wiring fault
  • Faulty fuel cap allowing uncontrolled pressure loss
  • ECU reference voltage out of specification

Symptoms

  • MIL illuminated
  • EVAP monitor incomplete
  • Possible fuel odor
  • No driveability impact

Severity

Moderate — the fault primarily affects emissions monitoring without impacting driveability.

What to do

  1. Check EVAP pressure sensor signal with scan tool during the EVAP test
  2. Inspect vent valve operation
  3. Check wiring and connectors
  4. Inspect fuel cap seal for damage
